Oh yeah, something new to think about.
LocalForums.net is looking to destroy the craigslist community by offering the exact same service with a newer and easier to use interface.
Craigslist, built on an old bbs environment, does not utilize the new Web 2.0 technology that allows for the users to benefit from the high speeds and low costs of bandwidth available. But here we have a new player in town. LocalForums.net
LocalForums.net is evolving daily into what can be considered EBay vs Craigslist system. It is suppose to have all the functions of Craigslist, allowing users unrestricted access to post items or services for purchase or for sale, allowing users to meet or find other people. However, LocalForums.net links users together for one huge network. Currently LocalForums only encompasses the United States but plans are to expand once the system is completely ready.
The EBay portion of LocalForums is allowing users to respond to a posting instead of communicating directly and solely through email. Having the ability to comment and vote on a particular post allows for less work on the user who created the post by allowing all users to see the question and answer. If the question is private, it still allows for messages to the users.
The following are a broad listing of topics to be included if not already with a brief description.
Date Cards – LocalForums.net will allow users to create date cards with stats, a picture and a short description.
Sales – LocalForums.net will allow users to post any items they have for sale. Other users will be able to vote on these items which will allow for quicker catching of scams.
Buys – LocalForums.net will allow users to connect with sellers publicly or privately using the forums system.
Community – LocalForums.net allows Churches, School Functions, Private Groups, Friends and other communities to create their own Private / Public Group.
Media Sharing – LocalForums.net will allow for members to post links to the top 10 video sharing site videos merely by pasting the video URL in their post.

I looked at LocalForums.net and I don’t know if I’m impressed. Sure, Craigslist doesn’t have the look… but looks much easier to use.
LocalForums.net lack the creativity, it seems. It’s just running the open-source Vanilla forum software. Can it try to be a little bit more original?
Sorry, didn’t mean to comment on a negative tone.

Not a problem, comments are always welcome!
They are suppose to be adding features all the time but I do not know what exactly what they are doing at the this time.
Actually, I am aware that they are adding the ability to isolate your community totally from the other groups. Not sure why they would want to do that, but it adds the group.localforums.net.
